Hi! I’m Ali Butler!
I’m a bookkeeper by day, a scuba diver occasionally, a chef in a past profession, and a wife and mum all the time.
I fell into bookkeeping back in 2000, when I insisted on doing my husband’s books because I couldn’t stand watching him type with only two fingers.
After having our 2 beautiful girls, I decided to study to become a BAS agent (that’s accountanty talk for Qualified Bookkeeper who is registered with the ATO) and built my business by helping other people do the thing they really didn’t want to do in their own businesses – Paperwork! Let’s face it, most people go into business because they are good at something like painting or landscaping not because they want to do the paperwork that comes along with it!
To me, my job is not just about the paperwork. I love being a part of my client’s business. I love that what I do is not only helping them stay on top of their books, it allows them the time to go out and do whatever it is they do best. I can help them see where they are at and where they can go. Plus I’m someone they can chat to, discuss ideas with, sometimes vent to but most of all I’m someone they can rely on.
On a serious note, I am a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (Agent #299680003 & Company Agent # 2621144) which means you can rest assured that I comply with all the training and requirements needed to be an honest, reliable and legitimate BAS agent .
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I started working with Ali in 2016 after she asked me to assist her with her growing list of clients. We first met each other through our kid's kindergarten and living close by in Emerald and got chatting about our common interest - Bookkeeping!
My background is in banking and finance as well as running a family business for several years and in 2012 my husband and I established our own business. Along with raising two beautiful kids, now 11 and 13, I also enjoy gardening, renovation projects, long walks with my two dogs and spending time with family and friends. In 2017 we moved to picturesque West Gippsland and I'm fortunate to continue working alongside Ali with the help of cloud computing.
Books BAS & Bottom Lines has continued to grow from strength to strength through word of mouth and client recommendations and we have a vast array of clients from all sorts of industries.
I am in my element working with numbers and spreadsheets which I know is weird. Keeping client files up to date and enabling them to meet reporting requirements gives me a sense of satisfaction. As bookkeepers we not only ensure all the paperwork side of things is in order, we also become a sounding board for ideas, provide insight and someone with whom you can confide in and depend on. Running a business can be a roller coaster at times but having someone to keep everything in check in the background so you can get on with the job eases the load a little.
Hi, I’m Chloe. I was lucky enough for Ali to offer me a job at the start of 2021 after completing my Certificate IV in Bookkeeping.
I have known Ali for quite a few years now after meeting her back when I babysat her first daughter in about 2009! I live in the hills with my husband and love to work locally. I also love to have a good cook up in the kitchen, snuggling up in bed with a book and LOVE the beach.
I come from a background of administration and was first exposed to bookkeeping after managing the financials of my husbands landscaping business and loved it. I live for organisation, spreadsheets and the pure joy of books balancing which is certainly not everyone’s cup of tea but that’s why we are here- so you don’t have to do it!
Working at Books, BAs & Bottom Lines has been an incredible time so far and I have leant so much from Ali thanks to her guidance and incredibly vast knowledge of bookkeeping. I love that BBB works with such a variety of businesses that use a range of different software programs and each with different needs. It widens our knowledge base, keeps us on our toes and I learn something new every week!
As a bookkeeper, I am privileged to work along side each of our clients and be apart of their livelihoods, getting to know them and their businesses, offering guidance and hopefully making their lives a little easier.
I’m looking forward to continuing to work along side Ali and Sarah as I work towards my BAs Agent registration with some of the best clients and hopefully some new ones too!
